Ready Set Go!There are several options for how we might proceed in providing training for staff, interns, volunteers, or other folks who might be using your website.
You can help yourself through these help pages. They are free and available at any time. You'll find instruction, screenshots, and (new in 2008) tutorial videos.
While the help pages provide generic video tutorials, it is also pretty easy to generate simple video screencasts specifically for your website. The resulting AVI video files (please inquire if a different format is preferred) can be posted on your website or posted to YouTube, burned to CDs and distributed to relevant folks, or archived for future reference.
Chris Paige is available by phone most weekdays from 9am to 5pm. Conference calls can also be arranged, as needed.
In some circumstances, it can be quite difficult to diagnose a technical problem over the phone. Describing visual cues can be time-consuming, exhausting, and ultimately ineffective. In such cases, we often use a simple program called CrossLoop to provide hands-on technical support. Not only can a CrossLoop visitors see what you see, the CrossLoop visitor can control your mouse and type on the keyboard, as needed.
Unfortunately, CrossLoop does not work well over a dial-up connection. And, at the time of this writing, CrossLoop is only for Windows computers.
Of course, face-to-face training sessions are also an important tool. Meetings can be arranged on site at your location, or in our office.
We are exploring a free application called Vyew, which may provide great online collaboration opportunities. Using Vyew, up to 20 people will be able to call in (phone of VoIP) to discuss, while observing a live screencast demonstration.
At the time of this writing, we have read the promotional material, but have not yet experienced this tool first hand.
