Most Ready Set Go! mailing lists are powered by Mailman -- which is a well-respected, open source software tool for managing email mailing lists.

• Mailing lists can be set up for discussion, announcement-only, or simple distribution funtionality, with a variety of customizable settings. 
• Unless the list is setup in a different way, mailing list members can unsubscribe themselves with a simple email command.  This saves the list owner time in managing list maintenance.
• Unless the list is setup in a different way, the list owner/moderator will receive notifications of changes in list membership (addition and removals).
• Unless the list is setup in a different way, new subscriptions must be confirmed by the recipient (opt-in).  This is an important control to prevent accusations of spamming.
• Email can be sent from any email address to the mailing list (although authorization may be required for some lists, depending on how they are setup).
• List moderation (authorizing emails and membership changes) can be delegated to multiple staff or volunteers, so you can avoid the bottleneck of only one person being able to authorize such events.
